Summer in Portland has a funny way of bringing visiting friends and family to Portland. Our friend Sara was just here, kicking off a constant wave of visitors to our little bungalow in July and August. And we are so psyched!
But, just a word of warning to our upcoming guests: we put you to work out in the berry fields!
P.S. I am officially now like 80 years old, because I have taken up canning. Seriously, someone stop me before I start pickling things, too. #portlandia
Yup, we had a Swedish midsummer this year. We drove 2 hours to Astoria in our 1-day-old car (New Subaru Outback!) and partook in some Swedish dancing, aebelskiver and meatballs. I kept wanting to speak Swedish to all the booth owners, but 100% American English came out of their mouths. It was a little surreal.
I do want to give those Swedish Americans a big high five for holding their little fest indoors. Because the weather outside felt just like a Swedish midsummer ... jätte rainy!
