The drive to Wiesbaden, Germany, is getting harder and harder as Sophie gets older. Now she needs constant entertainment. We went through her toy bag in about 17 minutes, and I was kicking myself that I hadn't bought her some cool new toy that would captivate her for a while. So we had to resort to cell phones, wallets and sunglasses (which, as you can see, was entertaining for me and Lewis as well). I think we will need to enlist the DVD babysitter on future trips and will shop for one when we visit the States this summer.
Being on the autobahn itself is always entertaining. My favorite car that blew past us was an orange lamborghini. It got stuck behind us during some road construction, and then as soon as the lanes opened up again he took off like a rocket. I managed to catch a glimpse of him before he was gone in 1.34 seconds.
Lewis also received an interesting gesture from a German driver, who we apparently pissed off somehow. We figure Lewis must have camped out in the middle lane for 1 second too long.
There are two routes you can take between Sweden and Germany – the land route, which takes you the long way through Denmark but allows you to avoid the $100 ferry fee, and the ferry route, which gives you about 45 minutes to get out and stretch your legs. We like both routes for different reasons, but opted for the ferry route on the way back so Sophie could get out of her seat. She kept us on our toes as she ran around the boat.
All in all, we made record time on the way home (10.5 hours) and avoided any toddler meltdowns. Phew. I wonder if we'll have the same luck on our 9-hour flight to the US. I have a feeling we'll spend those 9 hours following a certain someone up and down the aisle.

When are you flying home? If you'll be in SC I'd love to see if our schedules match up. Soph & Mary Allison could pretty much run the state on their cuteness. :)

We weren't going to invest in a DVD player for the car, but the in-laws ended up getting a really nice one for us - and I tell you it is a life saver in the car! Leia doesn't sleep as much in the car anymore since getting older and we just put in the Teletubbies or Baby Einstein and she sits and sings along and laughs for the entire trip!
We are getting ready for a trip to the US (we leave on Monday). We are a bit worried about the whole thing.. :/ :) We're thinking she'll either scream the whole time or be a perfect angel, honestly we'd be happy with 50-50.
